Overview
Introduction
The 1982 Porsche 935 Bob Akin L1 is a purpose-built racing car designed and constructed by Chuck Gaa. It features a 3.2-liter turbo flat-six engine producing over 800 horsepower, making it one of the fastest Porsche 935s of its era.
Racing History
The car made its debut at the 1982 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it demonstrated impressive straight-line speed. Although it only lasted two hours due to a malfunction, the car went on to compete in the remainder of the 1982 IMSA season, achieving a fourth-place finish at Mid-Ohio and a seventh-place finish at Road Atlanta.
After being purchased by Jacques Rivard in 1999, the car underwent a complete restoration, including a rebuilt engine and transmission by G&S Autoworks. It is now one of the most potent 935s in vintage racing and is eligible to compete in historics worldwide.
Specifications
The car's specifications include a 3.2-liter engine, 800+ horsepower, a bonded aluminum monocoque chassis, and a fiberglass body. It weighs 2324 lbs and features coil-over MacPherson strut suspension in the front and coil-over trailing arm suspension in the rear.
