Overview
Introduction
This 1958 Porsche 356A T2 Speedster "Outlaw" is a one-of-a-kind vehicle, reimagined by Canepa. With its Fashion Grey exterior and custom green leather interior, it boasts a unique blend of style and performance. The Speedster is powered by a Willhoit 2.2S engine, producing 177 horsepower and 162 lb/ft torque, paired with a 5-speed transmission and 4-wheel disc brake system.
History and Restoration
The previous owner, a Washington resident, purchased the Speedster in 1970 for $1,000 and drove it regularly for four years. The car was then stored in a facility until 2010, when it was transported back to California. The owner, realizing they wouldn't have the time to restore the vehicle, decided to sell it to Bruce Canepa, who transformed it into the ultimate "Outlaw" Speedster.
Canepa's team completely stripped the vehicle of its componentry and paintwork, starting from a blank slate. The restoration process involved extensive modifications, including rear quarter fender reshaping, front underside spoiler fabrication, and bumper reshaping. The engine lid was louvered, and the front turn signals and rear taillamps were recessed into the body.
Mechanical Upgrades and Interior
The Speedster features a John Willhoit 2.2 liter S engine, custom exhaust system, and WEVO 5-speed transmission with an early 911 shifter assembly. The vehicle also boasts upgraded suspension, including torsion bars, shocks absorbers, and sway bars, ensuring exceptional handling. The interior features a full custom green leather interior, perforated seat inserts, and gray German square weave carpet.
The dashboard was modified to remove decorative trim, and the gauge cluster was extended to give the appearance of recessed gauges. A special custom 3-spoke steering wheel rim was painted Fashion Grey, and the center tunnel was trimmed in the same gray carpet used throughout the interior. "GT" style gauges were added, along with interior door handles and dash knobs, all painted Fashion Grey.

Whether on the road or on display, this Canepa-designed Outlaw is sure to impress, embodying the spirit of a true performance vehicle.
