Overview

Introduction

The 1975 Chevron B29 Formula 2, chassis number 29-75-30, is a rare and highly competitive racing car with a rich history. Originally constructed for Hans Binder and powered by a BMW engine, this car was later test-driven by Brian Redman and delivered to Jorg Obermoser, Team Warsteiner Eurorace. The car features a BMW M12 2L in-line 4-cylinder engine, 5-Speed Manual transmission, and boasts an impressive racing career with 44 recorded races.

History and Provenance

Chevron was a pioneering race car company founded by Derek Bennett, known for its innovative and successful designs. The Chevron B29 is an improved iteration of the B25 and B27, with only five cars constructed for Formula 2 in Europe. This particular car has been driven by notable drivers including Hans Binder, Brian Redman, David Oxton, Eric Morgan, and Chris Read, and has undergone several ownership changes throughout its history.

Restoration and Preparation

The car has undergone comprehensive restoration and preparation, including a major engine rebuild by VDS engines in 2009, totaling over $53,000. Additional work includes the rebuild of the FGA transaxle, replacement of wheels, and installation of new fuel injection components. Recent preparation by J&L Fabricating has included the installation of a new racing harness, batteries, custom-fitted seat, and chassis dyno, as well as polishing and nickel-plating of various components.

Current Condition and Offer

Today, the Chevron B29 presents in exemplary condition, with excellent paint and beautifully finished competition livery. The car has been restored to a high standard both cosmetically and mechanically, with only minor evidence of track use. Accompanied by invoices and spares, including four pallets of parts, this car offers a unique opportunity for the next enthusiast to enjoy a superb vintage race car with confidence.
